Following the success of our previous meet-ups (here's a post about our summer one), we were delighted to host another RISE get-together on 16.12.25. This time, after listening closely to pupil feedback about activities they enjoy and considering how to make the activities accessible to all ages, we had a huge range of activities on offer.
With the festive season in mind, pupils were able to take part in a mixture of arts and crafts, make items to take home, participate in outdoor activities, such as scavenger hunts and join in with structured sports activities. The pupils were thorough engaging and seeing them spend time together socialising in a relaxed, supportive environment was an absolute pleasure! Creating a range of options meant pupils could engage in ways that felt comfortable for them, while still being gently encouraged to try something new.
A big focus for this meet-up was supporting attendance to the event, particularly for pupils who find social situations challenging. Through careful preparation, reassurance and the use of regulation strategies they’ve been developing with their mentors, we were thrilled to see pupils there who can experience anxiety and who had never attended a RISE meet-up before. Seeing them arrive, settle and take part was a huge achievement and a real credit to the hard work they’ve put in.
We love a two-birds-with-one-stone scenario, so this afternoon also supported so many pupils with their individual targets around emotional regulation, socialising and interacting with others. Watching pupils encourage one another, build confidence and enjoy being part of the wider RISE community reminded us just how valuable these events are.
It was a fantastic success, and we’re already looking forward to running another meet-up next term. As always, our pupils continue to show us what it means to Engage. Succeed. Thrive. RISE.

"My son totally looks up to Sam and I have seen such a change in Charlie. He's happier and is coming out with me so much more at weekends now as well which is so nice! It's all thanks to Sam.
Thanks to Sam for all his help with Charlie: he really enjoys spending time with him and it benefits Charlie’s mental health so much."

"The Mentor has a good relationship with R. She communicates and works well with her when she is having a bad day. There is great communication with myself- the reports are detailed and I enjoy reading them. I know RISE has greatly helped my daughter build her confidence and become a happier child."

"Thank you to Taylor for everything he has done for C, he has impacted his life in the most positive way during the most challenging time of his life. Taylor has been a lifeline for C and without him, he was at risk of Permanent Exclusion.
He now has transitioned to a specialist school and this would not have been possible without RISE's support. C will remember him forever for the most positive reasons!"
