Over the past two weeks, our RISE pupils have truly shown what resilience looks like. We’ve been carrying out a range of reading and maths assessments, as well as questionnaires focusing on pupils’ attitudes and feelings towards school and learning. For many young people, these tasks can be challenging (particularly so soon after the summer holidays when routines are still settling back in), but we are incredibly proud of how calmly, maturely and positively our pupils have approached them.
These assessments are such an important part of what we do at RISE. They not only help us to identify and bridge any gaps in learning, but also give us valuable insights into how our pupils are feeling about school, learning and their own progress. This means we can continue to support each child in the most effective way possible, both academically and emotionally.
Our tutors and mentors have been on hand throughout, offering reassurance, supporting with their emotional regulation, offering encouragement and plenty of praise along the way. Their support ensures that every pupil feels confident, valued and understood. Conducting these assessments is just one of the many tools we use to help our young people Engage. Succeed. Thrive. RISE.
Well done to all of our pupils for their fantastic resilience and effort: we’re so proud of the determination and growth you’ve already shown this term!

"RISE AP has made a significant impact on the children who attend our school. Many students who were previously out of school are now successfully reintegrated into the classroom, even participating in afternoon sessions - something that once seemed out of reach for them.
This tailored support addresses their unique needs, helping them thrive both academically and emotionally, in a way that truly makes a difference to their overall well-being and future prospects."

"I feel a lot more confident! Now, I can go out into the community and talk to people, like when I order my own drinks - it's something I didn’t feel brave enough to do before. I’ve also learned to understand my feelings better.
I can tell when I’m upset or stressed, and I know how to use strategies to stay calm and in the Green Zone of Regulation, so I can handle things better and feel more in control."

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to you and the entire team at RISE. Your unwavering commitment to placing young people at the heart of everything you do is consistently evident, and it does not go unnoticed.
I am especially grateful for the close and collaborative working relationship we have developed. Your willingness to respond promptly and supportively whenever I have reached out regarding a young person in need has been invaluable. You have never let me down, and the level of care and support provided to the young people referred to your service has been exceptional.
RISE’s robust and comprehensive approach to safeguarding offers significant reassurance. It is clear that safeguarding is not just a priority, but a fundamental part of your practice. Knowing that a young person is in your care truly eases the weight on my shoulders as an Inclusion Officer, as I am confident that they are safe, supported, and respected at all times.
Thank you once again for your continued dedication and for the vital role you play in supporting some of our most vulnerable young people.
