School Workshop for Parents

Posted: 23-10-2025

This week, one of our Directors, Dan, had the pleasure of returning to one of our partnership schools to lead a workshop for parents. Following a successful staff training session at the start of term and after receiving positive feedback from staff, we were invited back to deliver a workshop on supporting children who have experienced trauma and introducing the PACE approach.

This was extremely beneficial as it ensured that both school and home environments can work together using the same strategies to support their children. The workshop explored what trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are, and how these early experiences can have a significant impact on brain development, emotional regulation and a child’s ability to engage with learning.

Dan discussed how using the PACE approach (something we use daily at RISE, which stands for Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) can help children feel safer, more connected, and better able to manage their emotions. By responding to children through connection and understanding rather than correction alone, parents and teachers can create the secure foundations that pupils need to build confidence, form trusting relationships and re-engage with their education.

Parents shared how beneficial they found the session and how reassuring it was to learn more about the techniques already being used in school. It was wonderful to see everyone so open and reflective, recognising the importance of consistency between home and school in supporting each child’s emotional wellbeing.

At RISE, we believe that when adults work together with shared understanding, pupils are given the best chance to grow both emotionally and academically. We were delighted to return, strengthen these partnerships, and continue helping pupils to Engage. Succeed. Thrive. RISE.

"Thank you to Taylor for everything he has done for C, he has impacted his life in the most positive way during the most challenging time of his life. Taylor has been a lifeline for C and without him, he was at risk of Permanent Exclusion.

He now has transitioned to a specialist school and this would not have been possible without RISE's support. C will remember him forever for the most positive reasons!"

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to you and the entire team at RISE. Your unwavering commitment to placing young people at the heart of everything you do is consistently evident, and it does not go unnoticed.

I am especially grateful for the close and collaborative working relationship we have developed. Your willingness to respond promptly and supportively whenever I have reached out regarding a young person in need has been invaluable. You have never let me down, and the level of care and support provided to the young people referred to your service has been exceptional.

RISE’s robust and comprehensive approach to safeguarding offers significant reassurance. It is clear that safeguarding is not just a priority, but a fundamental part of your practice. Knowing that a young person is in your care truly eases the weight on my shoulders as an Inclusion Officer, as I am confident that they are safe, supported, and respected at all times.

Thank you once again for your continued dedication and for the vital role you play in supporting some of our most vulnerable young people.

"The Mentor’s relationship with J and me has helped hugely. Having another adult to help has made me feel less alone in my care for J. Bridget's wealth of knowledge has been vital to us accessing services, benefits and professionals within BCP.

Also, the resources provided have been superb. I am really grateful for the care, support and kindness Bridget has provided us. Without her, we would be in a really bad place."
