We are proud to share that RISE is now part of The Good Morning Club (TGMC), becoming the first alternative provision to adopt this neuroscience-backed behaviour approach. This marks an important step in continuing to develop how we support our pupils, particularly in relation to behaviour, emotional regulation and readiness to learn.
During a recent staff inset, TGMC was formally introduced to staff, with the focus was on how TGMC can be meaningfully embedded within our existing practice and for our young people's individual needs. Staff spent time exploring the platform and engaging with resources such as non-verbal communication boards and video content, identifying how these can be used to support pupils in a way that is practical, accessible and tailored to individual needs. The emphasis throughout was on how these tools can enhance what we already do, rather than replace it.
A key concept explored was “Regulate to Educate,” which reinforces the importance of emotional readiness as the foundation for learning. This strongly reflects the RISE approach, where understanding behaviour and supporting regulation are central to helping pupils feel safe, settled and able to engage. Staff also learnt about TGMC's Personal Pathways, an approach that allows sessions to be structured with both flexibility and purpose, giving pupils a greater sense of autonomy while ensuring the right level of adult support. Breaking learning into manageable steps and building in strategies such as movement breaks were identified as simple but effective ways to meet pupils’ needs.
What stood out across the training was how closely TGMC aligns with the values already embedded within RISE. It provides a shared language and additional structure that supports staff in responding consistently, while still recognising the individuality of each pupil. This strengthens our ability to create calm, supportive environments where pupils feel understood and are better able to access learning.
As we begin to embed this approach across our provision, the focus remains on what it means for our pupils day to day. By continuing to invest in approaches that prioritise regulation, relationships and personalised support, we are further strengthening our provision and ensuring pupils are in the best position to engage, succeed, thrive and RISE.

"The Mentor’s relationship with J and me has helped hugely. Having another adult to help has made me feel less alone in my care for J. Bridget's wealth of knowledge has been vital to us accessing services, benefits and professionals within BCP.
Also, the resources provided have been superb. I am really grateful for the care, support and kindness Bridget has provided us. Without her, we would be in a really bad place."

"I feel a lot more confident! Now, I can go out into the community and talk to people, like when I order my own drinks - it's something I didn’t feel brave enough to do before. I’ve also learned to understand my feelings better.
I can tell when I’m upset or stressed, and I know how to use strategies to stay calm and in the Green Zone of Regulation, so I can handle things better and feel more in control."

"My son totally looks up to Sam and I have seen such a change in Charlie. He's happier and is coming out with me so much more at weekends now as well which is so nice! It's all thanks to Sam.
Thanks to Sam for all his help with Charlie: he really enjoys spending time with him and it benefits Charlie’s mental health so much."
