RISE Activities Week Beginning 23rd May

Posted: 23-06-2025

This week at RISE has been full of energy, creativity, and purposeful learning, all wrapped up in a focus on real-life skills that empower our pupils both now and for the future.

We’ve had a strong focus on physical activity and wellbeing, with pupils taking part in sports and exercise, learning not only how to keep their bodies healthy, but why it’s so important. Healthy habits have also been explored through sessions on balanced eating and budgeting - key skills that help our pupils feel more confident and independent in daily life.

One standout moment came from a pupil with aspirations to become a mechanic, who had the opportunity to try out some basic car maintenance tasks. It’s been fantastic to see pupils connecting their interests to hands-on experiences that bring their goals to life. As always, our tutoring sessions have also continued to support progress in core subjects like maths and English, with personalised learning and guidance helping pupils to build confidence and close gaps.

Alongside academic and practical development, creativity has played a big part in supporting wellbeing this week. Pupils have expressed themselves through art, design, and other creative outlets - offering a space for calm, connection, and self-expression during busy days.

We’re so proud of all the pupils who continue to take part, push themselves, and make the most of these opportunities. Every skill, every step, every spark of interest is another way they continue to Engage. Succeed. Thrive. RISE.

"The Mentor’s relationship with J and me has helped hugely. Having another adult to help has made me feel less alone in my care for J. Bridget's wealth of knowledge has been vital to us accessing services, benefits and professionals within BCP.

Also, the resources provided have been superb. I am really grateful for the care, support and kindness Bridget has provided us. Without her, we would be in a really bad place."

"My son totally looks up to Sam and I have seen such a change in Charlie. He's happier and is coming out with me so much more at weekends now as well which is so nice! It's all thanks to Sam.

Thanks to Sam for all his help with Charlie: he really enjoys spending time with him and it benefits Charlie’s mental health so much."

"O didn't have any support other than myself to help her and was struggling to cope with life, having the opportunity to have Leila in her life has opened her mind to so much. We were extremely struggling to cope so having Leila's support has helped tremendously.

It has given me hope that not every door is shut to her and there are people out there that want to help, and she can get support that she needs. O was extremely negative about anyone being able to support her as no one had in the past so this opportunity has definitely helped her to have more faith in people and to trust the process."
