RISE Activities Week Beginning 21st April

Posted: 23-04-2025

Following a bank holiday and a staff training day, we’re incredibly proud of our RISE pupils for how quickly and positively they’ve settled back into the swing of things this week!

Mentors and tutors have been working closely with pupils to re-establish routines, create a sense of calm, and set clear expectations for the term ahead. Thanks to everyone's efforts, pupils have already made a strong start, engaging in a wide range of meaningful learning activities as they get ready for the new term ahead.

This week’s activities have included reflective work in their Happiness Confident Me Journals, a range of SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) activities, such as focusing on strategies to cope with anxiety and new academic learning, including maths skills, reading comprehension, and essential life skills like financial literacy.

At RISE, we place equal importance on academic progress and emotional wellbeing. Supporting emotional literacy, building resilience, and nurturing mental health are at the heart of everything we do - because when pupils feel safe, confident, and supported, they are able to Engage, Succeed, Thrive and RISE.

School CPD Feedback

The RISE Team provided well prepared, high quality and engaging PACE training to staff who work with children aged 3-11. Staff commented on how useful the real life examples were and how these supported them to apply this training in our school environment. The RISE Team worked with leaders before delivering the training which meant we could adapt it to the needs of our school. I have seen many of the strategies being used in school which has lead to the prevention of escalations. Overall,  highly effective training!

"My son totally looks up to Sam and I have seen such a change in Charlie. He's happier and is coming out with me so much more at weekends now as well which is so nice! It's all thanks to Sam.

Thanks to Sam for all his help with Charlie: he really enjoys spending time with him and it benefits Charlie’s mental health so much."

"O didn't have any support other than myself to help her and was struggling to cope with life, having the opportunity to have Leila in her life has opened her mind to so much. We were extremely struggling to cope so having Leila's support has helped tremendously.

It has given me hope that not every door is shut to her and there are people out there that want to help, and she can get support that she needs. O was extremely negative about anyone being able to support her as no one had in the past so this opportunity has definitely helped her to have more faith in people and to trust the process."
